What is a Gaming Chair?
Simply put, it’s a chair for gaming. However that is where the simplicity stops. The primary principle of a gaming chair is to provide you, the gamer, with the most comfortable position in which to play your favourite games. Top example is HJH office types.
If your anything like me, sitting on the sofa just doesn’t cut it. I find I lean forward to get closer to the screen which makes both my neck and back hurt. There is no beer/coke can holder in the arm of my sofa, which is a must for a gaming chair…it’s thirsty work after all….!
How to find the right chair for you?
There are many reasons to get a gaming chair. Finding one that’s just right for you is the tricky part. So below is our guide to choosing one that fits your needs.
Comfort is generally at the top of most game players list. They either site on the sofa or arm chair, which to be honest, are not the most comfortable places to spend hour upon hour glued to the screen.
Let’s face it, having a gaming chair is cool. Your friends will be jealous when they come over and you just look like a pro gamer! There’s nothing better than sliding back into your chair ready for some serious gaming.
What helps even more is the awesome range of colours they come in. Racer Red, Sleek Leather and Electric Blue are just some or the choices available, along with the more subdued colours that will blend into any office environment but still ooze comfort, coolness and quality.
Hands up who loves their headset? I know I do, but I love my chair surround sound speakers even more. The sound quality is so much better and the bass can even make me jump sometimes!
So if sound is important to you, then a chair with built in speakers is a must. There’s loads out there, the most talked about are the X-Rocker range of chairs, due to their sound and build quality.
In the zone
I don’t know about you, but unless I’m sat fairly close to my screen, with the sound coming straight into my ears via ether a headset or surround sound speaks as I talked about above, I just don’t feel like I’m in the zone. I think my kill tally on COD is hampered when I’m sat too far away from the screen and I just don’t feel like I’m there….which is the main reason for a 3rd person shooter…right?
So by sitting in my chair, with built in speakers, cup holder and foot rest, I have everything I need and I am in the most comfortable, ergonomic position to get into the zone.
Our top 5 gaming chairs reviewed
The daddy of the X-Rocker’s, the Pole Position. Much like the 4Gamers PS3 chair below, the black and grey PU material along with the red stitched piping make this chair look and feel like it belongs to a professional.
With built in vibration, sub woofer, control panel and lockable swivel base you literally don’t have to move for anything!
The big seller of this chair for us is the wireless connectivity. No more wires trailing round your room to trip over on food and drink runs. Once you have figured out the instructions on how to set it up, you will be so glad you did as the sound, sitting position and comfort is simply great.
The arms on this chair also fold back which makes getting in and out a cinch 😉
One of the best all round gaming chairs on the market today.
Whilst a bean bag cannot have built in speakers or accessory pouches, it does mean that you can put this chair in the corner of you room and it not look completely out of place. When in use however there have been many reviews commenting on how comfortable it is.
This combined with the easy clean faux leather this simple gaming chair is suitable for both kids and adults alike.
As the filling is just simple poly beans, the comfort and support it provides is surprising. That said, because the filling is moveable, no matter what height you sit at you can manoeuvre the beans to make a headrest at the exact height you want it. Which means there are many possible sitting variations, unlike many of the fixed position chairs out there.
The last point to make about this gaming bean bag is the price. Currently at £40 on Amazon, it an absolute steal. With prices of £70+ at Argos for the same size beanbag, you just can’t go wrong.
Boasting a subwoofer with great bass, surround sound speakers, and it’s compatible with all consoles including Xbox, PS3 and PS2. One of the main selling features of this chair is that it folds away for easy storage.
This chair also offers multiplayer connectivity meaning your friends can all connect and join in.
Distance is not a problem for this chair either, with a range of 25 feet, your game audio is transmitted wirelessly via a transmitter.
This combined with the subwoofer gives incredible bass and a much improved gaming experience.
What’s more the headrest is removable so you can adjust it to a position that suits you
If you’re looking for a multifunctional chair that is both comfortable at a desk or in front of your TV playing FIFA 14, then this is a good choice.
The name GT 500 Racer Chair says all there is to say about how this chair looks. The bucket seat design and breathable mesh inserts makes it look sleek like an Italian sports car.
This chair also has the red piping design that is in 3 of our top 5 gaming chairs (can you tell we like it?). It suits this bucket seat design to the ground and really does make a difference to the look and feel of the chair.
There is a 360 degree swivel, reclining back rest and adjustable height, combined with adjustable armrests means you can get the seat just right for you.
The brilliance of this machine speaks for itself in the spec; it has a built in vibration system, 2.1 speakers and subwoofer, fully functional control panel for volume, bass, vibration and headphone connection control.
Above all else, it actually looks like a PS3…as weird as that sounds! The sleek curves and the deep red stitched piping make this chair look like it’s owned by a serious gamer.
There is a naive extra padded head section which means your head will sit in a comfortable place and you can relax your next muscle, leading to even longer playing times
One of the simple yet great things we love about this chair are the handy accessory pockets located on either side of the chair.
